At Burlington County Orthopaedic Specialists, we’re proud to care for patients of all ages, from young children with sports injuries to older adults managing arthritis or recovering from joint replacements. General orthopedics is the part of medicine that focuses on bones, joints, muscles, and the way our bodies move. It’s a broad field, and that’s what makes it so important in our community.
What Is General Orthopedics?
General orthopedics helps people with many different types of bone and joint problems. This includes:
- Sprains and strains
- Broken bones (fractures)
- Sports injuries
- Arthritis
- Back, neck, and shoulder pain
- Joint problems in the knees, hips, hands, and feet
Our team treats both sudden injuries and long-term conditions. Whether it’s a child who fell off a bike or an adult who’s had years of joint pain, we’re here to help.
Treating the Individual, Not Just the Problem
Although our doctors are subspecialty fellowship-trained, our team still provides comprehensive general orthopedic care. It is not uncommon for us to manage numerous joints in the same visit or multiple issues in the same patient over time. At BCOS, your doctor or physician assistant will never tell you “This visit was only for knee pain”, or “I only treat shoulder problems.” We love seeing repeat customers. If the workup reveals that you have an issue beyond our scope, we will refer appropriately to the best physician suited to treat the matter at hand.
Managing the Whole Family
One of the best parts of serving our community is getting to care for people throughout their lives. We may help a teenager heal from a torn ligament, care for their father with early arthritis, and their grandmother with a hip fracture. It’s rewarding to build lasting relationships and offer support every step of the way.
Why Early Care Matters
Sometimes people wait to see a doctor, hoping their pain will go away. But small problems can get worse over time. The earlier we see you, the better we can help prevent further injury and keep you moving well. For many new injuries, BCOS is often able to accommodate same-day or next-day appointments so that you can avoid the Emergency Room or Urgent Care. We can then provide definitive management to reduce pain, improve movement, and support a healthy, active lifestyle.
Care Close to Home
As a small private-practice group, we’re part of the community we serve. You may see us coaching our children and their classmates, or participating in local tennis, basketball, or dance events. We take the time to get to know our patients, answer your questions, and create a care plan that works for you. From physical therapy, injections, splints, or braces to surgery (when needed!), we offer a wide range of services in one place.
Supporting a Healthy Community
General orthopedics is about more than just treating injuries, it’s about helping people live full, active lives. When our patients can return to work, school, sports, or daily routines without pain, it makes a big difference not only to them but to the whole community.
If you or someone in your family is dealing with joint or muscle pain, or recovering from an injury, we’re here to help. You don’t have to live with discomfort. Let’s work together to keep you moving and feeling your best.
